PCMag is back with another round of speed tests for the country’s internet service providers. The publication evaluates large and small ISPs on upload and download speeds and this year, Verizon’s Fios service takes the top spot among nationwide providers. The win marks the eighth time in nine years, the fiber-based provider has earned first place. Meanwhile Iowa’s Cedar Falls Utilities took the crown as the fastest non-major ISP.

Of course, “nationwide” might be too broad a descriptor for Fios, which is only available in a handful of states in New England and the Mid-Atlantic. Still, fast is fast, and the company’s overall score of 174.5 handily surpasses second place finisher Xfinity, which earned a 136.

As for the fastest ISPs in specific regions, here’s who came out on top in this year’s test:

  • North Central: Cedar Falls Utilities
  • Northeast: Suddenlink
  • Northwest: NextLight
  • South Central: Google Fiber
  • Southeast: Hotwire
  • Southwest: Sonic

PCMag says it based its findings on a series of upload and download tests and then weighted the results to give more importance to download speeds. In the end, over 350,000 tests were conducted by the the site’s readers.
